One of the mandates of the Commission is to provide Indigenous communities and organizations with the ability to access Dispute Resolution services that concern (as mandated by sections 26 and 27 of the Indigenous Languages Act):
With the guidance of Elders, knowledge keepers, language champions and advocates, the Dispute Resolution services that will be available through the Commission incorporate Indigenous cultures, worldviews, knowledges, protocols, and languages. They are based on principles of trust, reciprocal accountability, and relationship-building.
Dispute Resolution Services of the Commission may be in the form of mediation or other culturally appropriate service to facilitate the resolution of a complaint or dispute related to one or more of the concerns listed above.
The goal of the Dispute Resolution Services is to help organizations, communities, and the federal government build relationships and resolve issues in meaningful and constructive ways to work toward our common goal of strengthening, revitalizing, reclaiming, and maintaining Indigenous languages across Canada.
This section is currently under development. More details about the Dispute Resolution Services will be made available on this page.
