‘Rhythms of the Land’ – A National Celebration of Indigenous Languages through Music
Ottawa, ON – June 16, 2025 – The Office of the Commissioner of Indigenous Languages (OCIL) proudly announces the premiere of ‘Rhythms of the Land’, a national music documentary celebrating the strength and revitalization of Indigenous languages in Canada.
Airing July 12, 2025 across CTV and CTV2 networks, ‘Rhythms of the Land’ features powerful performances by Indigenous artists singing in their mother tongues, recorded in landscapes of deep personal significance.
“Language connects us to land, to each other, and to generations of wisdom”, says Director Georgina Liberty. “This documentary is both a tribute and a call to action.”
The project’s theme, “My Language. My Voice.”, extends into a nationwide engagement strategy including social media activations, community pop-ups, and a premiere event in Ottawa on July 10, 2025.
